Premium Horse Agistment

Lock up Tack Rooms

Full Care Silver: Private Paddock, Owners feed

Horses are fed and rugged twice daily. This is only the top rug that will be changed, other than by arrangement.

This is where our farm is quite unique as all horses are fed on the same tour of paddocks at the same times of day, in the same order, nobody misses out or waits for an owner to appear. This minimises stress and tendency to colic.

Here you are providing the feed and supplements that you can individualise for your horse. A space in the feed room is provided for 2 bins. We prefer that you have made several dry feeds up in advance ready for your horses feed bucket. We can add powders, medicines, carrots, water or molasses if required just prior to feeding.

These are private paddocks with Paddock shelters and fabulous fencing. All Equimesh and Equiwire electric fencing. The advantage is that it makes it exceedingly difficult for a horse to hurt itself if it has a disagreement with a neighbour. Usually at the instigation of a mare. The Equimesh can take a kicking without a horse or foal putting its leg through. The Equiwire electric is a coated medium tensile wire with carbon fibre / poly covering. The covering will roll around the wire if a horse puts a body part on it, reducing the formation of a hard edge that would strip skin (as opposed to plain wire, barbed wire and wooden rails). The electric fence is offset from the mesh to bring the horses further from the fence, but close enough to still have some social interaction.

Paddocks are rotated as needed before being machine swept for manure, harrowed or mulched and sprayed for weeds. This prevents the fields from becoming horse sour, gives good grazing cover and low-level worm larvae. When the horses are moved, we try to keep them with their usual neighbours where possible.  As always, your horses individual needs are our priority.

This level of agistment also provides full use of the facilities:

  • Hot and cold wash

  • 70m x 30m all-weather fibre sand arena.

  • 18m sand round yard for lunging and starting horses safely.

  • Under cover and open air concrete floored tie-ups.

  • Locked Tack room beside tie-ups, shared between 2 horses / riders.

  • Mirrors along the full width of the short side of the ménage.

  • Fabulous tracks and trails all around our farm, for safe pleasure riding, fitness work and occasional hurdle.

  • Tan bark gallop track on top boundary has been recently installed.

  • Short ride from our front gate down a quiet lane past the cherry trees is the Warburton trail. This is often used by our agistees and local riders. So plenty of people to go riding out with!

Retired Horses

*discontinued wef January 2025*

Retiree horses are split into two separate groups.

One comprises the good doers- those who maintain a good condition and who don't usually require supplementary feeding during the year other than minimal hay in winter if pasture is insufficient.

The other small group that are usually older do require some hay. Hay is supplied when needed. The cost is split between the horses in the paddock. There is a maximum of 6 horses per group.

Both groups of horses are rotated through 5 large paddocks. These paddocks are regularly harrowed, mulched and weed managed.

Fabulous fencing, with Equimesh separating the herd from other horses. Where there are no horse neighbours, the fence may revert to 6 wire medium tensile fence, all with Equiwire electric fencing to the perimeter of these paddocks.

Good shelter trees, some paddock shelters and automatic water troughs.

The horses are checked twice daily, wear fly masks in summer, and are rugged in winter.

Worming and feet trimmed on a regular basis, which is billed to the owner at the end of the month as it occurs.

Once our retirees, require more feed and TLC they move to our Geriatric Paddocks.

Geriatric Agistment

These are private paddocks with Paddock shelters and fabulous fencing. All Equimesh and Equiwire electric fencing.

Generally the horses are kept in pairs as a buddy system. Horses are a herd animal by choice.

Feed is supplied twice daily and hay supplied for those that can eat it. A senior pre-mix feed such as Mitavite Gumnuts is predominantly fed. The rugs are changed as required.

Horses are feet trimmed and wormed on a regular basis which is an additional charge and is billed as it occurs.

This is a full board situation, for our golden oldies, and one of the reasons we first started this agistment farm. It was that we were running out of room to provide suitable retirement living for our own old horses as well as those in work. Tends to happen in 19 years of accumulation on the same farm.

We take pride in giving our old horses a fantastic and dignified end to their careers with room to run and play with a buddy where their increased needs are met at an affordable price.

Prices start at $150 per week depending on your individual horses needs
